San Mames is a soccer stadium located in Bilbao, Spain. It is used as a home stadium for Athletic Bilbao. The stadium construction plan has been in place since 2004 and was approved in March 2006. San Mames Stadium is a stadium that can accomodate about 40,000 people. It is the oldest soccer field in Spain. Around 211 million Euro used to build the stadium, and 52.6% was paid through public organizations, with the Basque provincial government, the Bilbao city council and the Biscayan parliament sharing the cost of the construction. The stadium was inaugurated on September 16, 2013.
